Self Reliance:Part 4

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little mind,” it’s saying that little minds are scared of getting new information as big minds people want to learn more and receive new Information, not necessarily want to but they don’t mind it.
“To be great is to be misunderstood.” People misunderstand a person due to his different ideas from the masses, then the person is, in fact, a great thinker.
“ We pass for what we are.” Our character never changes no matter where we go. We pass for the person we are and not as someone else or something else.
Emerson’s essay really does and has got me thinking on what happens in my daily life. But it’s really hard to under stand him even with the teachers help, I have to reread it multiple times to figure out what he means and most of the time his words do have an impact.

Self Reliance Notes:Part 3

“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” .... says, Emerson’s essay is an absolute genius, especially coming from 20years before the civil war stating that any bad poor man is jsut as good as any good rich person. Claiming that he would go to prison for these people that are drunk and asking for money.

“Their works are done as an apology or extenuation of their living in the world,” meaning that mean do a good deed for charity or other stuff to make themselves look good even when they know they’ve done some hurtful or harmful stuff like tobacco companies nowadays and possible back then too.

“For nonconformity the world whips you with its displeasure.” What Emberson is trying to say is that people who try to speak for themselves are always shut out and kept quiet but the outside world, meaning you can let go out and say what you want without people telling you that you’re wrong or your claim is false.

FIRST IMPRESSION: On Self Reliance

I really like how the author uses Latin in the first sentence before even starting the actually story. It got me ( the reader ) really Interested in the story, also made me think about what the story was going to be about and it’s ended up being relatable to. Since Latin is the root of a lot of langueges it gets a lot of foreign or bilingual people already just interested in the story because they can point out some of the words.

Let Me Walk With You Through The Pedestrian

In the story, “ The Pedestrian,” Ray Bradbury has this corrupt experience one night as he walked through the city.  As he walked through the city he get pulled over and was asked by a artificial intelligence police car to get in side the car. He must have felt really confused and agitated  at the moment because he hadn’t done anything wrong but just walk the streets. The author was also trying to explain how we need to be wary of technology because in the story nobody socializes anymore, everyone is stuck on their phone that no one interacts anymore.
The tone in the story was very lonesome, it made me feel like society was so different from how it is in today’s modern world. He gave me this feeling by explaining into deep detail on how the streets of Los Angeles were dark and quiet, he explained everything so in depth that I felt as if I was in the story experiencing everything with him. This was set up by the fact that technology has pretty much taken over everyone’s lives and it was so rare for someone to be walking the streets at night.
In the Pedestrian Ray Bradbury was trying to explain the wary of technology, and how it would affect us in the up coming years. What I learned from this character was that he was self conscious of how the world was at that time and he knew exactly why the police car had stopped him as he walked the streets. The character also gave the audience something to relate to because when he got pulled over he acted the same way as if someone in today’s day would’ve acted.
The plot in the story is it when Leonard Mead goes on a long walk one evening. As he was walking he gets questioned by a cop on what was he authority that evening (as in what was he doing walking the streets at that time.) He responds with, “ I’m putting one foot in front of the other.” In the story and in today’s modern day a cop would not want to hear something like that and would become very frustrated and angry. The cop repones with more attitude and keeps questioning him until Mr. Mead was asked to get into the police car.
In conclusion, the overall story was amazing and really put out the awareness of the wary of technology and how it would affect us in the future.

HOW TO GET ALONG ONLINE

Today I’m going to state a few ways on how to keep a conversation going or how to keep the person interested in you, if you know what I mean...
Okay first thing first is that it normally depends on who you are talking to, if you’re trying to get to know someone because you like them or just want to see if a friendship can be created then just start with simple, “ hey” or “hi” don’t start with anything creepy... Second step is after you got to know them or get them interested then you should probably ask to hang out some time soon or if that to fast then just ask how was their day and what they did. Lastly, if you haven’t already requested to hang out then you should ask ! But if you still don’t want to then I guess you can just, I don’t even know, if you don’t hang out with the person then there’s really nothing you can talk about.

The Earth On The Turtles Back

My first impression of “The Earth on The Turtle’s Back” was really good. I like this myth a lot actually, how it use personification and gave us a moral. I like when stories give the readers a lesson to learn or a give a story to tell to young ones later on in your life.

Today I Was Thinking

Today what stuck to my mind was the fact that before class, we should take a moment before class to take a breath... take a breath and just let your thoughts flow through your mind and take a moment to to just be present in that point of time.

The Mentor

"The Mentor's, " use of diction is using literate words and very captivated, making us wanting to read more. The Mentor is a smart guy that knows what he's talking about using high vocabulary but also making it easy to read for the reader. The author's tone in this manifesto is very aggressive and disappointed.

Conscience of a Hacker

This article was actually really interesting and caught my attention right away. I just love the structure of it and how you can feel the how the author's mood and vibe just by reading it. Liked how he brought up at the end that we're all alike and that there's no way that the government is gonna stop people from being curious.

Reaction To Training Like A Memory Champion

My reaction to this article is that it wasn't that interesting to me, I started to get bored right of the bat. And it's rare for me to get bored while reading something like that.

The Right To Your Opinion

"Know Your Rights"

I personally think it is important that we all should know our rights because in today's world people don't know their rights and end up getting harrassed by the cops and/or get questioned even if the person didn't do anything. But everyone can prevent this from happening if they know their rights.
