DARK PATTERNS

An example of a dark pattern that i had encountered was when i was on the NFL shop, shopping for a jersey. It took me awhile to find the right jersey and the right size because of all the " Top Selling"/"Few more left" jerseys that were clearly not low on sale because of the number it was. Which is from an important person from the team. I feel like they just want to sell those for the most money and while not sending so much money themselves on expensive material, because to be honest those jerseys looked and feel like cheap material.

I'M IGNITED

Today was a very interesting day for our third period class. We talked about our big questions that have been driving us crazy and i'm going to list a few that have caught my attention and I would be interesting in hearing more about. First one that caught my attention was on from Dr. Preston's 2nd period class, "Why are people superstitious?" by Karla, this really caught my attention because i've thought about this myself and i would like to hear more about it but sadly i am not in the class period so i'll probably use my own time to actually look into that instead.
One question that was from my actual class period was by someone named Guadalupe and she had asked, " How will our actions about our ecosystem today influence the future?" This topic has been talked about by a lot of scientist and they all have their own answers but i would like to hear what she has to say about it because topics about our future no matter what it is, global warming, climate change, our ecosystem, etc. really interest me.
One more that had interested me was a question by a classmate of mine named Juan, he had asked, "Will we ever be able to desalinate and drink ocean water?" Now this is a question i have been asking myself since i was very young, ever since the talk about global warming started to come back up and how glaciers in Antarctica are "melting" and how are we going to be able to get fresh water after that? So i'd like to know what he has came up with and if we could possible do that one day.

ARGUE THIS

What is syllogism?
Syllogism takes a lot of thought, it’s a simplest form of an argument.

My big question is, what is the relationship between consciousness and reality?
My major premise would be that there is actually three separate ways to specify ‘consciousness’. There would be THINKING, FEELING, & BEING. My major premise is there is no ‘relationship’ between them but more of how or when the ‘thinking consciousness’ realizes reality etc etc. So in conclusion, there are different ways/ parts to this question that we really have to understand this dimensional ‘relationship’ to really know what is being said which would help in giving your own answer.

Self Reliance:Part 4

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little mind,” it’s saying that little minds are scared of getting new information as big minds people want to learn more and receive new Information, not necessarily want to but they don’t mind it.
“To be great is to be misunderstood.” People misunderstand a person due to his different ideas from the masses, then the person is, in fact, a great thinker.
“ We pass for what we are.” Our character never changes no matter where we go. We pass for the person we are and not as someone else or something else.
Emerson’s essay really does and has got me thinking on what happens in my daily life. But it’s really hard to under stand him even with the teachers help, I have to reread it multiple times to figure out what he means and most of the time his words do have an impact.

Self Reliance Notes:Part 3

“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.” .... says, Emerson’s essay is an absolute genius, especially coming from 20years before the civil war stating that any bad poor man is jsut as good as any good rich person. Claiming that he would go to prison for these people that are drunk and asking for money.

“Their works are done as an apology or extenuation of their living in the world,” meaning that mean do a good deed for charity or other stuff to make themselves look good even when they know they’ve done some hurtful or harmful stuff like tobacco companies nowadays and possible back then too.

“For nonconformity the world whips you with its displeasure.” What Emberson is trying to say is that people who try to speak for themselves are always shut out and kept quiet but the outside world, meaning you can let go out and say what you want without people telling you that you’re wrong or your claim is false.

FIRST IMPRESSION: On Self Reliance

I really like how the author uses Latin in the first sentence before even starting the actually story. It got me ( the reader ) really Interested in the story, also made me think about what the story was going to be about and it’s ended up being relatable to. Since Latin is the root of a lot of langueges it gets a lot of foreign or bilingual people already just interested in the story because they can point out some of the words.
